Pediatric Consultant

Description:

This is a full-time, on-site Pediatric Consultant role based in Karachi. The Pediatric Consultant will provide comprehensive clinical care to infants, children, and adolescents, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing medical management. Daily responsibilities include conducting outpatient and inpatient consultations, performing routine examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and coordinating care with other specialists and nursing staff. The role involves counseling families on preventive care, vaccinations, nutrition, growth and development, and treatment options, while maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and regulatory standards. The Pediatric Consultant will also participate in clinical audits, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and support training and supervision of junior medical staff where required.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized institution and completed residency or specialist training in pediatrics; valid registration with relevant medical council.
• Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and managing common and complex pediatric conditions, including neonatal care, acute illnesses, and chronic diseases.
• Strong skills in clinical examination, use and interpretation of pediatric diagnostic tools, and evidence-based treatment planning.
• Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with children and caregivers, providing education on preventive care, vaccinations, and overall child wellness.
• Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies, infection control standards, and clinical guidelines.
• Experience working in hospital or clinical settings with multidisciplinary teams, with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed for hospital operations, including shifts, weekends, and on-call duties.
• Prior experience in maternal and child health, community health programs, or welfare-focused healthcare settings is an advantage.
