Category Manager

 

Description:

The Category Manager will own vendor onboarding, seller performance, and GMV growth for assigned fashion categories. The role requires a mix of commercial acumen, seller relationship management, and data-driven execution, tailored to Pakistan’s fashion and e-commerce landscape. You will be responsible for bringing the right sellers onboard, activating them quickly, and scaling their GMV contribution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Vendor / Seller Onboarding

• Identify and onboard local fashion sellers, brands, boutiques, and manufacturers

• Build strong pipelines across Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and other key hubs

• Own end-to-end onboarding: commercials, documentation, catalog readiness, and go-live

• Educate sellers on platform tools, pricing, promotions, logistics, and SLAs

• Reduce onboarding friction and ensure fast seller activation.

2. GMV & Category Growth Ownership

• Own GMV targets per seller and per category

• Drive growth through:

➢ Assortment expansion

➢ Competitive pricing

➢ Promotions and campaigns

➢ Seller-funded discounts

• Track demand trends in Pakistani fashion (seasonality, festive sales, regional preferences)

• Increase average GMV per seller and overall category contribution,

3. Seller Performance Management

• Monitor seller KPIs and take corrective actions where needed

• Identify top-performing sellers and scale their contribution

• Manage underperforming sellers through improvement plans or exits

• Ensure SLA adherence (fulfillment, returns, cancellations, content quality)

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Marketing on campaigns, promotions, and seller-funded offers

• Work with Content & Catalog teams to improve listing quality and discoverability

• Collaborate with Operations to improve fulfillment performance

• Support Product & Tech teams with category insights and feature feedback

5. Market & Competitive Intelligence

• Track fashion trends, pricing benchmarks, and competitor assortment

• Identify white spaces and emerging brands

• Use insights to influence category and vendor acquisition strategy,

Qualifications/Experience

• 3–6 years of experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, category management, or vendor

management

• Strong understanding of fashion categories (apparel, footwear, accessories, or beauty preferred)

• Proven experience driving GMV growth and seller performance

• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills

• Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities

• Comfortable working in a high-growth startup environment
