Structural Designer/detailer/draftsman

Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Structural Designer/ Detailer / Draftsman (Steel and Wood Structures) with a strong background in U.S. construction and design standards. The ideal candidate will prepare precise and comprehensive structural drawings and 3D models while coordinating with U.S.-based engineers, fabricators, and project managers. The role demands proficiency in international codes, drafting software, and constructability best practices to support high-quality, compliant project deliverables.

Major Job Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed structural drawings—including plans, elevations, sections, and connection details—for steel, concrete, and wood structures in compliance with U.S. standards.
• Prepare shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings based on design specifications and client standards.
• Create and manage 3D models of structural systems using Tekla Structures, Revit Structure, AutoCAD, or SDS/2.
• Ensure drawings meet AISC, ACI, AWS, and NDS standards and adhere to project-specific CAD/BIM protocols.
• Coordinate with U.S.-based engineers and project managers to confirm constructability, design intent, and quality expectations.
• Develop reinforcement detailing for concrete members (beams, slabs, columns, foundations) and prepare bar bending schedules.
• Review and verify shop and fabrication drawings for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with U.S. design codes.
• Participate in technical coordination meetings to resolve design or drafting issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

✅ Proficiency in Tekla Structures, Revit Structure, AutoCAD, or SDS/2

✅ Strong knowledge of U.S. structural design codes (AISC, ACI, AWS, NDS, ASTM)

✅ Familiarity with U.S. fabrication, detailing, and erection standards

✅ Excellent ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings

✅ High attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation

✅ Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with remote teams

✅ Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within tight timelines

Other IT Skills:

💻 Expertise in CAD/BIM management and file coordination systems

💻 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and documentation

💻 Experience with file review tools such as Navisworks, Bluebeam, or Trimble Connect is preferred

Qualifications:

🎓 Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field

💼 3–5 years of experience in structural detailing for U.S.-based projects (Steel / Wood Structures)

📘 Practical understanding of U.S. construction documentation and detailing workflows is required
