Electronic Medical Record (emr) Technical Specialist

Figgers Health seeks a highly skilled EMR Technical Specialist to join our dynamic Health IT team. This role is responsible for implementing, optimizing, supporting, and maintaining electronic medical record (EMR) systems across our healthcare clients and internal platforms. You will act as a technical liaison between healthcare providers, developers, and support staff to ensure the EMR systems run efficiently, securely, and compliantly within clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the configuration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or proprietary FiggHealth EMR).

- Analyze clinical workflows to recommend EMR optimizations that enhance productivity and patient outcomes.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth EMR integration with telehealth devices, billing systems, lab interfaces, and patient portals.

- Provide Tier II/III technical support, troubleshoot EMR issues, and serve as a point of escalation for end users.-- Design and execute test plans for EMR upgrades, patches, and new feature rollouts.

- Monitor system performance and maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and system logs.

- Train clinical and administrative staff on EMR functionalities and workflows.

- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant federal and state healthcare data regulations.

- Participate in audits and assist with data extraction, reporting, and analysis as requested by leadership or compliance teams.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).

- 3+ years of hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems in a technical support or systems analyst role.

- Proven expertise in HL7, FHIR, API integrations, and healthcare data exchange protocols.

- Familiarity with SQL, Crystal Reports, or other query/reporting tools.

- Solid understanding of clinical documentation standards and medical workflows.

- Experience with ITIL or change management frameworks a plus.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into layman's terms for clinical stakeholders.
