Description:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (Social Work, Climate/Environmental Sciences, or related fields preferred)
Experience
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in social mobilization, youth engagement, or community work
The Youth engagement officer will work with the British Council team and has the responsibility of ensuring participation of beneficiary households in all phases of project implementation.
The specific duties and responsibilities of Youth Engagement Officer will include:
- Youth recruitment and GYM clubs formation:
- Identify youth participants according to the role profile shared by the British Council through different recruitment strategies.
- Facilitate the process of formation Green Youth Movement clubs in the communities through elections.
- Operationalise GYM clubs in local communities through project planning approach:
- Facilitate GYM leadership in developing their workplans and YLA projects .
- Facilitate resolution of disputes, conflicts between individuals and among members of GYM clubs.
- Provide necessary reporting inputs to the MEL officer as per the standard monitoring formats on regular basis.
- Provide mentoring support to YLA teams under the GYM clubs.
- Reporting and Linkages
- Assist Project manager in development of a clear work plan for PYLI project implementation.
- Support district coordinators in implementing training calendars and other events.
- Capture success stories and lessons learned during implementation.
- Support MEL officer in preparing monthly and quarterly reports.
Skills
- Passion for working with youth and communities
- Basic knowledge of climate change and sustainability will be a plus
- Friendly and approachable attitude
- Fluency in local language; basic English skills preferred
- Willing to travel within the community and conduct fieldwork
