Description:
The Release Train Engineer will facilitate and coordinate Agile Release Train activities, ensuring alignment across multiple development teams while managing program-level execution and delivery timelines. This role involves removing impediments, facilitating cross-team collaboration, and driving continuous improvement practices to enable predictable, high-quality software releases at scale.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) events, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops to ensure alignment and delivery of platform engineering solutions
- Coordinate and manage dependencies across multiple agile teams working on platform software components, ensuring seamless integration and delivery
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and resolving impediments, bottlenecks, and process inefficiencies across the release train
- Partner with Product Management and Architecture teams to ensure platform roadmap alignment and technical feasibility of planned features
- Coach teams and stakeholders on SAFe practices while fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and delivery excellence
- Monitor and report on ART metrics, delivery progress, and business value realization to executive stakeholders and program leadership
- Act as a backup for Scrum Masters as and whenever needed
- Participate in APMO ancillary efforts as capacity allows
What are we Looking For?
Basic Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of agile experience for a software development team, diligently applying Scrum principles.
- 2+ years of direct experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE), successfully launching and running at least three or more Program Increments (PIs) in a SAFe environment.
- SAFe Mastery: Deep, practical capability in applying and tailoring the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to optimize value delivery at the program level.
- Tooling: Experience with commonly used tools for managing an ART, such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Rally, or Jira.
- Communication & Conflict: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to facilitate discussions and resolve conflict at the program and stakeholder level.
- Servant Leadership: Demonstrates strong servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, and continual improvement skills.
