Description:
We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Mechanical Technician to join our stainless steel pipe and tube manufacturing facility.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial mechanical maintenance, with hands-on expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, chillers, compressors, cranes, forklifts, and workshop equipment.
The role requires a proactive professional capable of ensuring equipment reliability, plant efficiency, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of mechanical systems and machinery to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including jacks, cylinders, valves, and actuators.
- Maintain and overhaul pumps, compressors, chillers, gearboxes, heat exchangers, cranes, and forklifts.
- Inspect and repair mechanical drive systems (belts, pulleys, bearings, shafts, couplings, and gears).
- Conduct vibration, alignment, and lubrication checks to prevent breakdowns.
- Respond promptly to unplanned equipment failures to minimize downtime.
Workshop Operations
- Operate lathe machines, drilling machines, grinders, and other workshop tools for machining, fabrication, and repair work.
- Assist in the fabrication, modification, and fitting of mechanical components and structures.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and storage of workshop tools and equipment.
Installation & Commissioning
- Assist in installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment and mechanical systems.
- Work with engineers and maintenance teams during plant upgrades, shutdowns, and projects.
- Verify mechanical integrity after maintenance or installation activities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment performance logs.
- Report recurring faults and suggest technical improvements to enhance equipment reliability.
- Support planning and scheduling of maintenance tasks and spare parts inventory.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety protocols.
- Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety and environmental standards.
- Promote safe operation of forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Diploma of Associate Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or process industry (preferably steel, fabrication, or heavy equipment sectors).
