Financial Analyst

 

Description:

As a Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in managing accounting and financial operations across assigned operating companies within Banyan Software’s portfolio. You will oversee general ledger activities, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash management, and revenue processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.

In addition, you will support financial reporting, revenue recognition, and variance analysis to deliver actionable insights that drive business performance. This role requires a hands-on approach to accounting operations while contributing to process improvements and maintaining high standards of financial integrity in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and support month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Verify the accuracy of transactions recorded in the general ledger, including AR and AP.
  • Collaborate with the Junior Financial Analyst to oversee monthly cash books, AP payments, and invoice processing.
  • Develop and maintain accounts receivable (AR) billing schedules.
  • Prepare and reconcile deferred revenue schedules, including maintaining waterfall structures to enable accurate short-term and long-term classification of deferred revenue on long-term contracts, under the guidance of the Senior Financial Analyst or Assistant Manager.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, intangible assets, deferred revenue, accrued liabilities, and accrued accounts receivable.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of intercompany transactions across operating entities.
  • Post payroll entries and manage statutory payments, including all applicable taxes.
  • Coordinate with the Tax team to support monthly sales tax filings.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Prepare Profit & Loss (P&L) reports and provide detailed variance analysis at month-end.
  • Generate revenue reports and provide commentary on month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter variances.
  • Manage prepayments, accruals, and other critical month-end adjustments.
  • Support internal audits and controllership reviews as directed.
  • Continuously review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), recommending process improvements to Senior Financial Analysts and Assistant Managers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

 

Qualifications for Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Accounting designation (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing GL, AP, AR, and month-end close processes.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated and energetic with an interest in finance, entrepreneurship, and the software industry.
