Senior Shopify Engineer

 

Description:

We handle everything from clean marketing driven Shopify stores to complex commerce systems involving custom logic, integrations, and scalable architectures. We are now looking for a senior Shopify expert who can take ownership of advanced Shopify builds and help us push beyond standard implementations.

 

The Role

This is not a theme setup role.

 

We are looking for someone who understands Shopify as a platform, not just a storefront.

You will work on projects that involve:

• Advanced product logic and data modeling

• Custom Shopify apps and backend integrations

• Checkout and discount logic within Shopify constraints

• Performance sensitive storefronts

• Long term scalable commerce architectures

 

You will be expected to make architectural decisions, not just follow instructions.

 

What You Will Be Doing

• Architect and build advanced Shopify solutions beyond off the shelf themes

• Develop and maintain custom Shopify apps using Shopify APIs and webhooks

• Implement complex business logic using Shopify Functions, metafields, and metaobjects

• Handle integrations with ERPs, fulfillment services, CRMs, and marketing pipelines

• Optimize storefront performance and reliability

• Advise on trade offs between native Shopify features, apps, and custom development

• Collaborate with designers, PMs, and clients to translate business needs into clean technical solutions

 

What We Are Looking For

You are a strong fit if you have:

• 5+ years of experience working deeply with Shopify

• Strong command of Liquid and Shopify theme architecture

• Experience building custom Shopify apps (Node.js preferred)

• Hands on experience with Shopify Functions, webhooks, and APIs

• Experience with complex product models (bundles, subscriptions, B2B, multi market setups)

• Strong understanding of Shopify limitations and how to work around them safely

• Experience with headless or semi headless Shopify (Hydrogen is a plus)

• Comfort making architectural decisions and explaining trade offs
