Senior Officer

Description:

The Searle Company Ltd., one of Pakistan’s most prominent names in the pharmaceutical industry, is looking to hire an Officer / Senior Officer – Engineering for its Port Qasim facility in Karachi. This position is designed for individuals with a solid mechanical engineering background and hands-on experience in pharmaceutical engineering operations and maintenance.

As an Officer / Sr. Officer in the Engineering department, you will play a vital role in supporting the operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment critical to pharmaceutical manufacturing. This includes ensuring compliance with GMP standards, enhancing equipment efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain uninterrupted production operations.

The ideal candidate will be mechanically proficient, proactive in problem-solving, and experienced in managing engineering tasks within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities: (Generalized based on standard pharmaceutical engineering roles)

• Oversee the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of production and utility equipment.

• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all regulatory requirements.

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules and report mechanical issues promptly.

• Maintain documentation for maintenance activities, calibration, and equipment validation.

• Coordinate with the production team to ensure minimum downtime and optimal machine performance.

• Participate in internal audits and regulatory inspections as required.

• Assist in project planning and execution for facility upgrades or equipment installation.

• Monitor performance metrics and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B-Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering.

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems used in pharma production environments.

• Good understanding of GMP, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.

• Hands-on experience with utility systems like HVAC, water treatment, air compressors, and boilers is a plus.

• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Preferred Residential Areas:

Candidates residing in or near Port Qasim, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Landhi, Korangi, and Malir will be given preference due to proximity to the facility.
