Description:
Energy Futures Consulting is seeking a technically strong and motivated Power System Engineer to join our engineering team. This role combines deep technical expertise in power systems with hands-on project coordination and client engagement.
The successful candidate will support the design, simulation, and analysis of electrical networks, covering utility-scale and industrial applications in renewable energy (solar, wind), microgrids, and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilitiesπ§ System Design & Engineering
- Design and develop electrical system layouts including grid-connected, hybrid, and off-grid systems.
- Prepare detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), equipment sizing, interconnection drawings, and protective schemes.
- Conduct power system studies using ETAP, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short-circuit calculations
- Protection coordination
- Arc flash analysis
- Harmonic distortion studies
- Transient and dynamic stability studies
π¬οΈ Technology Coverage
- Work across a variety of technologies including:
- Solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, utility-scale)
- Wind energy systems
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Hybrid and microgrid systems
- Energy-efficient industrial networks
π Analysis & Optimization
- Model and simulate electrical systems using ETAP as the primary platform.
- Analyze power quality, grid compliance, reactive power compensation, and energy loss reduction.
- Recommend system-level improvements for energy reliability and performance.
π Documentation & Deliverables
- Prepare and review comprehensive technical reports, BOQs, design packages, and system studies.
- Support in feasibility assessments, RFP responses, and client presentations.
π€ Client Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with clients (especially C&I sector) to gather technical requirements and present findings.
- Assist in stakeholder discussions, site meetings, and technical walkthroughs.
- Contribute to project management tasks such as timeline planning, team coordination, and deliverable tracking under supervision of the Head of Projects.

- Keep abreast of international standards (IEC, IEEE), utility interconnection codes, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate internally to improve workflows and introduce digital tools for system modeling and analysis.
π§π Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (Master’s preferred in Power Systems or Clean Energy).
Certifications (Preferred):
- ETAP certified user (strong preference).
- Certifications in renewable energy (solar/wind), BESS, or grid interconnection a plus.
Experience:
- 3–6 years of experience in power system design and studies.
- Hands-on experience with ETAP for system modeling, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with solar, wind, and storage projects in utility or industrial environments.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of:
- Power system protection and design
- Harmonics and transient stability
- Grid interconnection and compliance
- Power quality and reactive power compensation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Exposure to HOMER, AutoCAD, or other energy tools is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Able to handle client-facing interactions and technical discussions confidently.
- Organized and proactive in project coordination and documentation.
