Description:
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing fashion label from the very beginning. You will serve as the right hand to the founders (one based in Karachi) and lead design development, with emphasis on pattern making, as well as assist our production lead. Our U.S.-based founder is seeking a Karachi-based fashion professional with strong expertise in developing technical patterns for lehenga cholis and pre-draped sarees, paired with a passion for trend-forward, minimalist South Asian formalwear.
You will:
- Translate design concepts into technical patterns and assist tailors in execution (lehenga cholis, pre-draped sarees, blouses).
- Handle size grading (XS–XL) and ensure consistency across styles.
- Review all garments for fit, finish, and embellishment before shipment.
- Guide boutiques/tailors on corrections when stitching or fitting is not up to standard.
- Work closely with the founders to bring creative vision into reality.
- Develop new seasonal collections (5–10 cohesive designs per quarter).
- Oversee production with local boutiques and tailors, ensuring garments are sewn and finished to proper fit and quality standards.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in ethnicwear fashion, especially Indian-inspired clothing (lehenga cholis, sarees, pre-draped styles).
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- Strong pattern making skills and ability to communicate technical instructions to tailors.
- Solid understanding of fabric types, embroidery, and beading techniques.
- Knowledge of color theory and fashion trends.
- Proficiency in relevant design software and tools (Adobe Illustrator, CLO3D, etc.)
- Experience with size grading and garment fitting (XS–XL).
- Ability to manage production timelines and ensure quality control
