Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the reheating furnace to ensure optimal temperature profiles for billet heating prior to rolling.
- Design, evaluate, and maintain combustion systems, burners, and control mechanisms.
- Adjust air-fuel ratios and combustion parameters to achieve energy efficiency and product quality.
- Coordinate with the rolling mill production team to ensure heating schedules align with rolling operations.
- Troubleshoot furnace-related issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Analyze fuel consumption and emissions, proposing improvements to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Perform periodic inspection, calibration, and maintenance of combustion equipment.
- Maintain detailed logs, performance reports, and maintenance records.
- Support installation and commissioning of new furnace components and automation upgrades.
Qualifications/ Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience operating or managing industrial furnaces, preferably in steel or heavy manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of combustion principles, gas burners, furnace insulation, and thermal efficiency.
- Familiarity with automation and control systems (PLC, SCADA) for furnace operation.
- Understanding of occupational safety and environmental regulations.
- Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
