Description:
OceanTech is looking for a skilled and motivated Backend Developer to join our development team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining reliable server-side systems for client projects, including APIs, databases, integrations, and deployment workflows.
You will work within a secure, locked-down development environment and isolated infrastructure for individual client projects, collaborating closely with the Software Architect and Frontend Development team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs for ERP, CRM, dealer portals, SaaS platforms, and other client applications.
- Design and implement efficient database schemas with appropriate multi-tenant data isolation where required.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Gitea Actions for automated build, testing, and staged deployments.
- Manage application secrets, credentials, and configurations through the company's internal vault.
- Ensure sensitive credentials are never hardcoded, exposed, or shared outside the approved scope.
- Collaborate with the Software Architect on system architecture, technical decisions, scalability, and backend design.
- Work closely with frontend developers to define and maintain clear API contracts and integrations.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application and production issues through the approved deployment process.
- Follow secure development practices and established infrastructure and deployment protocols.
- Maintain clean, scalable, well-documented, and maintainable backend code.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of backend systems.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2–3 years of professional experience in Backend Development.
- Strong experience developing REST APIs; experience with GraphQL is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, database design, and SQL.
- Experience working with multi-tenant applications or data isolation patterns is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
- Familiarity with Gitea Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure credential management.
- Experience with third-party API integrations and backend services.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, security-focused development environment.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
