Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Description:

We are looking for a senior AI engineer to be the technical lead on our engineering team. This is primarily a hands-on shipping role — you’ll spend most of your time building and getting features into production — but you’ll also lead the team: setting technical direction, assigning and tracking work across projects, and mentoring a compact pod of developers, a designer and interns. You’ll work closely with the CEO on priorities and direction.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Ship production code daily across our AI product and client work — this is a build-first role.

• Lead the engineering team: assign and prioritise tasks across projects, review code, set standards and unblock people.

• Work directly with the CEO to translate priorities into delivery plans.

• Design and build agentic AI systems: multi-step LLM workflows, retrieval, orchestration and evaluation.

• Take features from spec to production across the stack — backend, data and AI layers.

• Make pragmatic build-vs-buy and model-selection calls under real cost and bandwidth constraints.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (MUST-HAVES)

• Over 5 years building production software, with real depth in AI/ML or LLM-based systems.

• Strong full-stack or backend engineering — you can own a system end to end, not just the model.

• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or similar) into production products.

• Proven, hands-on experience building agentic/tool-using AI systems, including RAG and vector databases — this is essential, not a bonus.

• Working knowledge of our tooling: TypeScript/Node, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS (ECS/Fargate), Temporal, Qdrant.

• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers and owning delivery.

• Comfortable working across multiple projects and switching context.

• Based in or willing to relocate to Lahore; able to work in-house in Bahria Town. This is non-negotiable.
