Description:
Banyan is looking to hire a Sales Tax/Value Added Tax (VAT) Analyst to join its highly functioning offshore Karachi team. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the sales and indirect tax function for Banyan’s companies in coordination with the onshore teams in the UK/Canada/US. Please note that this is an on-site job based in Karachi.
Job Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review, and file UK/EU VAT.
- Prepare, review and file US/Canadian sales tax returns.
- Support EC Sales List (ESL), Intrastat and other relevant local reporting.
- Ensure Sales tax/VAT journal entries are properly recorded. Ensure tax returns filed are timely reconciled with the tax general ledger accounts.
- Monitor tax deadlines. Ensure tax filings and payments are timely submitted.
- Identify and implement applicable tax legislation changes.
- Assist with determining and applying the correct VAT treatment for various transactions (e.g. intercompany charges, recharges, acquisitions).
- Perform sales tax/VAT research to ensure Banyan’s companies are compliant with current tax laws. Summarize the research in writing, including citations to the specific applicable tax provision codes and regulations.
- Assist with responding to sales tax/VAT audits and enquiries from tax authorities.
- Perform post-acquisition sales tax/VAT integration procedures for acquired companies.
Job Requirements:

- University Degree in Business/Accounting required. ACA/ACCA/CPA (or equivalent) preferred.
- Good working knowledge of ERP systems. Experience using Netsuite is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply tax legislation preferred.
- Ability to complete multiple assignments with similar deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and utilizing functions and formulas.
