Sehat Medical Devices (Pvt.) Ltd. is looking for an experienced Taxation Manager to independently manage the company’s complete taxation function, including Sales Tax, Income Tax, Withholding Taxes, Customs-related tax matters, Exemptions, assessments, notices, reconciliations and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and file monthly Sales Tax Returns and all related annexures through FBR IRIS.
- Prepare and file annual Income Tax Returns, statements and other statutory tax filings.
- Manage withholding tax compliance, including deduction, deposit, reconciliation and filing of withholding statements.
- Ensure correct application of Sales Tax Act, Income Tax Ordinance, Customs Act, Finance Acts, SROs and applicable exemptions/concessions.
- Identify and obtain available Sales Tax, Income Tax and Customs exemptions, concessionary rates and exemption certificates applicable to the company.
- Manage and renew Income Tax exemption / lower deduction certificates and other tax approvals.
- Review the tax treatment of company products, purchases, imports, sales and government tender supplies before transactions are executed.
- Maintain proper input/output sales tax reconciliations, including reconciliation with purchases, sales, imports, bank records, general ledger and FBR data.
- Monitor admissibility of input sales tax and ensure maximum legitimate utilization of available tax credits.
- Handle sales tax refunds, adjustments, carry-forward balances and related documentation.
- Review customs duties, additional customs duty, regulatory duty, sales tax at import stage and income tax at import stage.
- Work with Supply Chain and Customs Clearing Agents to ensure correct PCT/HS classification, valuation, exemptions and SRO benefits on imported raw materials, components and machinery.
- Review import GDs and identify incorrect or excess taxation before or after clearance.
- Handle correspondence, notices, audits, assessments and proceedings before FBR, Inland Revenue and Customs authorities.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants and legal counsel where required while retaining internal control over all tax matters.
- Prepare responses to show-cause notices, audit observations, tax demands and information requests.
- Maintain complete documentation supporting exemptions, tax positions, input claims and other tax treatments.
- Monitor changes in tax laws, Finance Acts, SROs, circulars and FBR notifications and advise management regarding their financial and operational impact.
- Provide tax advice on new products, contracts, tenders, imports, capital expenditure and major commercial transactions.
- Conduct periodic tax health checks to identify exposures, missed exemptions, excess tax payments and potential savings.
- Maintain a complete tax compliance calendar and ensure that no filing, payment, certificate renewal or statutory deadline is missed.
- Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Procurement and Management to ensure transactions are structured and documented in a tax-compliant and tax-efficient manner.
- Handle all other assignments relating to corporate taxation and tax compliance.
Qualification & Experience
- CA Inter / ACCA / ACMA / MBA Finance / M.Com or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant taxation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial organization.
- Strong practical knowledge of:
- Sales Tax Act, 1990
- Income Tax Ordinance, 2001
- Customs Act, 1969
- FBR IRIS and related portals
- Withholding tax regulations
- SROs, exemptions and concessionary regimes
- Import taxation and customs documentation
- Hands-on experience dealing with FBR audits, notices, assessments, exemptions and tax reconciliations.
- Experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing organization will be preferred.
- Strong command of Excel, ERP-based accounting and financial reconciliations.
- Must be capable of independently researching tax law and supporting tax positions with the relevant section, rule, SRO or notification rather than relying solely on external consultants.
