System Engineer

Description:

We are seeking a Mid-Level System Engineer to join a dynamic IT environment in Lahore. This role is ideal for professionals with 2–4 years of experience in server, network, and firewall management, who are looking to grow within a hands-on and evolving IT infrastructure setting.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing physical and virtual server environments, troubleshooting network issues, maintaining firewall and endpoint security configurations, and ensuring overall system uptime. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve escalations, apply security patches, and manage IT assets and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and troubleshoot physical/virtual servers

• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies

• Configure and maintain firewall appliances (FortiGate, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto)

• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure including switches, routers, and wireless networks

• Apply operating system patches, updates, and security configurations

• Support VPN setups, remote access, and endpoint connectivity

• Assist in data backup strategies and disaster recovery planning

• Maintain up-to-date documentation and IT asset inventories

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project-based and escalated tasks

• Monitor system alerts and ensure continuous system availability

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in system administration and network support

• Proficient in managing Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux environments

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and subnetting

• Experience in firewall configuration (NAT, access control, security policies)

• Hands-on with VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms

• Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Acronis, Windows Backup)

• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
