Description:
We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Shopify Developer to join our growing e-commerce engineering team. In this role, you will build, customize, and optimize Shopify storefronts that deliver seamless shopping experiences and measurable business impact. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, QA engineers, project managers, and SEO specialists to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing Shopify solutions. This is a hands-on role ideal for a developer who understands Shopify deeply, values clean architecture, and thrives in a collaborative, quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and customize Shopify sections and blocks using Online Store 2.0 standards.
- Develop, customize, and maintain Shopify themes and storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend practices.
- Implement custom Shopify features, sections, and templates aligned with UX designs and business goals.
- Integrate third-party apps, APIs, and services while ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
- Customize and extend Shopify functionality using Shopify APIs, webhooks, and metafields.
- Optimize Shopify stores for maximum speed, scalability, and Core Web Vitals, ensuring a seamless mobile-first experience.
- Collaborate with designers to deliver pixel-perfect, responsive, and accessible user interfaces.
- Work closely with QA to resolve defects, improve test coverage, and ensure release readiness.
- Partner with SEO and analytics teams to implement structured data, tracking, and performance optimizations.
- Provide effort estimates, identify technical risks, and communicate dependencies to the Technical Lead or Project Manager.
- Ensure best practices for performance optimization, security hardening, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Maintain clean, well-documented, and reusable code following Shopify and frontend development standards.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, debugging, and refactoring where appropriate.
- Stay current with Shopify platform updates, new features, and emerging e-commerce trends.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3–6 years of professional experience developing Shopify websites or Shopify-based e-commerce solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Experience customizing Shopify themes and building reusable sections and components.
- Solid understanding of Shopify Admin, theme architecture, metafields, and checkout customization constraints.
- Experience integrating third-party apps, APIs, and custom scripts.
- Strong understanding of responsive design, mobile-first development, and accessibility fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and managing multiple environments (development, staging, production).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including QA, design, SEO, and PMO.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with Shopify Plus features and advanced checkout customizations.
- Familiarity with headless or decoupled commerce architectures.
- Experience with performance optimization and Shopify speed best practices.
- Exposure to automated testing or QA collaboration workflows.
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Loveable) to support development workflows.
- Prior experience working on high-traffic or conversion-focused e-commerce stores.
