Senior Mobile Application Developer

 

Description:

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Application Developer who combines deep native mobile expertise with a forward-thinking approach to AI integration, scalable architecture, and exceptional user experience. In this role you will lead the design and development of high-performance iOS and Android applications that serve millions of users, while pioneering the adoption of on-device AI and intelligent features that set our products apart.

You will partner closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to shape the mobile roadmap, mentor junior developers, and raise the bar for quality across the entire mobile organisation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scalable Architecture & Engineering Excellence

•      Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable mobile architectures (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) that support rapid feature development and millions of concurrent users

•      Own the full mobile development lifecycle from concept through App Store / Play Store release, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management

•      Establish and enforce engineering best practices: code reviews, modularisation, dependency injection, and comprehensive test coverage (unit, integration, UI)

•      Optimise application performance, memory usage, battery consumption, and startup time to deliver a consistently smooth 60fps experience

•      Lead technical decision-making on native vs cross-platform approaches, framework selection, and third-party library evaluation

AI & Intelligent Feature Integration

•      Integrate on-device machine learning models (Core ML, ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite) to power features such as personalisation, natural language processing, image recognition, and predictive analytics

•      Collaborate with data science and AI teams to evaluate, fine-tune, and deploy models within mobile applications while optimising for latency and model size

•      Implement AI-powered features including intelligent search, chatbot interfaces, recommendation engines, and real-time content generation using LLM APIs

•      Stay at the forefront of mobile AI advancements and advocate for innovative applications of emerging technologies

UI/UX Leadership

•      Champion pixel-perfect, accessible, and delightful user interfaces built with SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, and modern declarative UI frameworks

•      Partner with UX designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into fluid, responsive, and intuitive mobile experiences that exceed platform guidelines (HIG, Material Design)

•      Drive adoption of design systems, reusable component libraries, and animation frameworks to ensure brand consistency and accelerate development velocity

•      Conduct usability audits, A/B testing, and user research analysis to continuously improve the product experience

Team & Technical Leadership

•      Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions

•      Contribute to hiring efforts including screening, technical interviews, and onboarding of new mobile engineers

•      Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (product, design, backend, QA) to define requirements, estimate effort, and deliver on commitments within Agile sprints

•      Author and maintain technical documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), and runbooks

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•      4+ years of professional experience in native mobile development for iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin)

•      Proven track record of shipping and maintaining large-scale consumer or enterprise mobile applications on the App Store / Google Play

•      Deep understanding of mobile app architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modularisation)

•      Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML models into mobile apps (Core ML, ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite, or LLM APIs)

•      Strong UI/UX sensibility with expertise in SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose

•      Proficiency with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, and modern networking libraries

•      Experience with CI/CD tools (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise) and automated testing frameworks (XCTest, Espresso, JUnit)

•      Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills

•      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
