Description:
- Responsible for design, development, integration, and testing of solar and battery inverters
- Responsible for design, analysis, development, characterization, integration, and testing of critical power inverter components, including power modules, gate drives, capacitors, current sensors.
- Support all electrical and electronics power circuit designs from concept to production
- Ensure all electrical design aspects are addressed to meet key program milestones and timing
- Perform detailed design analyses associated with inverter design requirements
- Conduct detailed reliability and predicted failure analysis (MTBF) of inverter system level designs
- Actively pursue cost reduction, size reduction and efficiency improvement advanced projects on power inverters and converters
- Provide technical leadership in inverter development team
- Interface with inverter firmware team to provide firmware integration guidance
- Provide technical leadership in supplier assessment activities pertaining to inverters
- Provide technical leadership, engineering guidance, and mentoring to power electronics engineers to enable accurate and efficient execution of inverter programs
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers’ technical experts, key university labs, and national labs.
Required Skills and Experience
- B.S. in Engineering with concentration in power electronics or power semiconductors
- Must have at least 5 years of experience.
- Extensive knowledge in power electronics theory and principles
- Extensive knowledge in design, development, and testing of power inverters and converters
- Experience in design for EMC in power electronics modules
- Must have built production quality DC/AC inverters
- Understanding of Renewable Energy Inverters and grid integration issues
- High level of technical problem-solving skills and experience in the production domain
- Design, development, validation, QC testing and RTM experience
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- M.S. or Ph.D. Degree with specialization in power electronics or power semiconductors
- 7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with Bills of Design, Statement of Requirements, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Design Reviews
- Experience with getting international quality certificates for power equipment, such as UL, IEC and JIS related certificates
- Working knowledge of Problem Resolution and Tracking Systems and Engineering Change Management processes
