Senior Data Engineer

Join Overjet as a Senior Software Engineer on our mission-critical Data Platform & Services team, the backbone of all data infrastructure powering our cutting-edge AI-driven SaaS products. In this high-impact role, you’ll own a broad scope of work, from architecting and scaling distributed data services to building seamless product integrations with Practice Management Systems (PMS).

This is a rare opportunity to shape the core data platform that fuels our AI-powered products, while also getting creative to leverage AI technologies yourself to automate repetitive tasks and workflows across the org.

Responsibilities
 

• Design, develop, and implement data pipelines to process data from patient management systems
• Conduct research into PMS systems involving data modeling and mapping
• Become a major culture driver for validating all changes in staging before production
• Help drive a culture of data-driven decision-making where releases only happen after all of our functional KPIs have been met
• Regularly scheduled on-call rotations is part of the core job of every engineer on our team
   

Qualifications
 

• 5+ years of software engineering experience including 2+ years of data platform/engineering experience
• Experience optimizing queries using explain and explain analyze
• Experience with automated testing / validation frameworks, either home grown or something like Soda or Great Expectations
• Strong programming skills in Python with the ability to write efficient and maintainable code
• Experience with testing and validation frameworks
• Proficiency in SQL, familiarity with data modeling and database design principles
• Experience working with cloud vendors (GCP/AWS/Azure), especially using infrastructure-as-code software like Terraform
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
• Experience with Practice Management Systems or electronic health records (EHR) is a plus but not required
• Knowledge of data security and compliance standard (e.g. HIPAA) and experience with sensitive patient data is a plus but not required
