Description:
Japan Electronics is seeking an experienced and strategic Purchase Manager to lead the company’s procurement operations. The role is responsible for vendor selection, price negotiations, purchase planning, market analysis, and ensuring timely availability of stock across all product categories. The ideal candidate must have strong commercial acumen, excellent supplier management skills, and the ability to drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Lead negotiations on pricing, contract terms, and discounts with local and international suppliers.
- Develop and maintain a strong supplier network with continuous evaluation of vendor performance.
- Finalize and issue purchase orders in alignment with business requirements.
- Maintain long-term, cost-effective, and reliable supplier relationships.
Market Research & Purchase Planning
- Conduct regular market analysis, competitor product study, and pricing benchmarking.
- Convert sales forecasts into accurate purchase plans to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Identify slow-moving or stuck inventory and propose liquidation or corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide pricing and invoice data to the Pricing team for updates.
- Coordinate with Finance to schedule payments and ensure documentation compliance.
- Work closely with Warehousing teams for stock availability and delivery timelines.
- Partner with Service and Production teams for issue resolution and technical approvals.
- Oversee packaging design, artwork communication, and approvals for imported items.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Ensure quality checks are aligned with supplier commitments and pricing.
- Review and approve discount requests within company policy.
- Lead weekly coordination meetings with Procurement, Sales, and Finance.
- Prepare and present monthly procurement reports and business updates to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in procurement or purchase management.
- Strong vendor negotiation and contract management background.
- Experience in electronics, retail, or FMCG sectors is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Knowledge of import/export laws, logistics, and packaging processes.
