Description:
At Carbon Craft, we help build the frameworks that allow nature to pay for itself. In addition to being a project developer, we are a boutique carbon advisory firm helping clients monetize climate and biodiversity outcomes. We sit at the intersection of technical science and commercial strategy, translating complex ecological data into viable, high-integrity carbon projects.
The Role
We are looking for a Project Associate who can bridge the gap between technical data and commercial reality. This is an end-to-end delivery role. You will work with the Projects Lead to assess whether projects are feasible, run the numbers to see if they are technically and commercially sound, and write strong narratives around their impacts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carbon Technical Assessment & Due Diligence
· Conduct due diligence and eligibility assessments to determine if projects can be registered under major standards like Verra (VCS) or Gold Standard.
· Draft carbon accounting models and perform emissions reduction calculations.
· Analyze core technical concepts for specific projects, including baseline emissions, additionality, permanence, MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification), and leakage.
2. Financial Modeling & Commercial Strategy
· Build robust financial models for carbon projects, conducting detailed cost/benefit analysis and revenue projections.
· Provide risk analysis within proposals and help develop mitigation strategies to protect project value.
· Assess the commercial viability of projects
3. Proposal Writing & Client Solutions
· Develop comprehensive technical proposals that cover project design, implementation plans, and execution strategies.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our proposals and solutions contain accurate financial assessments and strong client value propositions.
· Participate in Business Development calls to understand client pain points and provide solutions to them using carbon finance tools.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone with a high "figure-it-out" factor. You are likely 2–3 years out of university with a background in environmental finance, sustainability consulting, and project management.
Must-Haves:
· Education: Master’s degree in environmental management, climate finance or a related field. Applicants who have a bachelor’s degree with sufficient and relevant experience will also be considered for this role.
· Carbon Knowledge: You have a working knowledge of carbon markets (voluntary and compliance), understand how a carbon credit is generated, and are familiar with the processes of registries like Verra and Gold Standard.
· Tech Skills: You are comfortable with Excel and data analysis. You can analyze and build logical models and organize data for carbon accounting.
· Writing Skills: You are an excellent narrative builder and storyteller who is comfortable diving into technical as well as commercial proposal writing.
· You are diligent, curious, a fast learner, and take ownership of your deliverables.
· You are a natural problem solver with strong analytical skills and pay attention to detail.
