Production Lead

 

Description:

Network of Organizations Working with People with Disabilities (NOWPDP) is a non-governmental organization that promotes an inclusive society through holistic and sustainable endeavours in education and economic empowerment.

 

The Production Lead will be responsible for leading, planning, and executing all production activities

at the wheelchair manufacturing facility. This role ensures that operations are carried out efficiently,

safely, and in compliance with quality standards. The Lead will oversee workforce deployment,

production scheduling, vendor coordination for outsourced processes, and continuous

improvement initiatives to achieve cost-effective, timely, and high-quality output.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Production Planning & Control

• Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet demand

forecasts.

• Monitor and control production processes to ensure timely delivery against customer

orders.

• Manage capacity planning, workflow allocation, and resource utilization.

 

  • Operations Management

• Supervise day-to-day production floor activities, including welding, assembly, machining,

painting, and final product finishing.

• Coordinate in-house operations with outsourced vendor activities to ensure smooth

process flow.

• Maintain optimum stock levels of raw materials, consumables, and finished goods in

coordination with the supply chain.

 

2.Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, safety regulations, and wheelchair industry

specifications.

• Implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs),

and Quality Control checklists.

• Perform QC inspections, participate in root cause analysis, and identify and implement

corrective/preventive actions.

People Management

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of machine operators, welders, assemblers, and team

members.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on the shop floor.

• Conduct skill assessments, identify training needs, and foster a culture of teamwork and

accountability.

 

3.Process Improvement

• Identify bottlenecks, implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce

waste and improve efficiency.

• Drive continuous improvement projects related to cost reduction, quality enhancement,

and productivity optimization.

• Evaluate new tools, jigs, and fixtures to improve production consistency and efficiency.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate production records, efficiency reports, downtime analysis, and resource

utilization logs.

• Provide regular updates to Senior Manager – Operations on production KPIs, challenges,

and improvement actions.

• Ensure timely preparation of MIS reports for management review.

 

Perform all other duties that fall under the scope and responsibility of a Production Lead. This

includes all other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

 

NOTE: Job Responsibilities may change on the discretion of the CEO/direct supervisor,

in which case this Job description will be revised.

 

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or

related field.

• 3 years of experience in production management within a manufacturing/assembly

environment; experience in medical devices, mobility aids, or metal fabrication will be an

advantage.

• Strong knowledge of production planning, capacity management, and quality systems (ISO

9001, ISO 13485 preferred).

• Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma tools.

• Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems.
