What makes a Spencer West Lawyer?

At Spencer West we look for the following key qualities from our lawyers:

• Proven technical expertise - typically from having worked at some stage of their careers at a leading national or international law firm, or for example from having 20,000 hours (10 years) of experience in a chosen field. You are either a leader in your field or have aspirations to be.

• Business-person approach – this could be demonstrated in various ways: perhaps you have set up your own business; perhaps you have worked in-house; or you may have worked closely with owners and finance directors of owner-managed businesses; or you can demonstrate a commercially driven approach.

Remuneration and Profit Share

We offer the highest rates of remuneration and our Partners typically receive 70% of revenues. They also earn considerably more through delegation to junior staff and referrals between Partners.

For many Partners, joining our firm provides far higher remuneration than they received previously as well as much greater flexibility.

Profit share

Partners will on achieving several years with the firm, be offered the opportunity to participate in a share of the profit of the firm.

Growing your practice

Growing your Practice at Spencer West

Our Partners are already experts in their field, each typically having on average 20,000 hours of experience. The firm works alongside Partners to develop their practices. This includes:

• working with our Partners to develop their individual business plans, and help integrate these into the wider practice;
• working up opportunities for attracting legal support at different levels, from Partners to trainees to paralegals, to support the growth of practices;
• being a member of several networking groups, that Partners can take part in;
• developing video and social media presence, to further identify each Partner as a leader in their field; and
• assistance with legal directories and awards submissions.
