Description:
Savvital is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Paralegal (Probate) to support a California-based law firm. This role is responsible for assisting attorneys with probate matters by drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, managing court filings and calendars, and maintaining professional communication with clients.
This is an ownership-driven position that requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, can effectively manage multiple deadlines, and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. The ideal candidate is resourceful, proactive, and capable of independently managing day-to-day legal support responsibilities while ensuring compliance with California probate procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Legal Drafting & Research
- Draft probate pleadings, petitions, motions, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research to support attorneys on probate matters.
- Review and respond to probate court notes and requests.
- Prepare supporting documentation for court filings.
Court Filings & Calendar Management
- Manage court calendars, hearings, filing deadlines, and important case dates.
- Prepare and file pleadings accurately and within required deadlines.
- Maintain organized case files and legal documentation.
- Ensure compliance with California probate court procedures.
Client Communication
- Respond to client emails professionally and promptly.
- Conduct client calls to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries.
- Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, and external parties when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all client interactions.
Case Management & Administrative Support
- Organize and maintain case files and legal records.
- Track case progress and follow up on pending matters.
- Coordinate with attorneys to ensure all case-related tasks are completed on time.
- Support additional legal and administrative tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal certification, or an equivalent legal qualification preferred.
- Previous experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant is required.
- Experience handling probate matters and probate court procedures is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting U.S.-based law firms, particularly California firms, is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with legal case management software is preferred.
- Familiarity with California court filing systems and legal documentation processes is an advantage.
- Strong legal drafting and research skills.
