National Safeguarding Manager

 

Description:

To provide leadership and guidance in British Council Pakistan on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the British Council Safeguarding agenda and framework according to the British Council Safeguarding policy and procedures and in line with international and national legislation. We recognise that the care and welfare of children and adults is paramount and that both have the right to protection from abuse and harm when engaging with our activities and services; therefore, this role is a crucial part of Pakistan business delivery and operations.

Main Accountabilites

  • Liaise with the senior management to create buy-in and drive the safeguarding agenda.
  • Lead the National Safeguarding Working Group.
  • Lead and drive internal and external communication on safeguarding agenda to create safeguarding culture within the organization. This may include the design and delivery of training on safeguarding related topics in line with global safeguarding standards and base lines. To both internal and external staff and stakeholders.
  • Support the adaption of global organisational safeguarding systems and procedures to the country context and establish and nurture partnerships with external agencies to prevent and respond to safeguarding incidents.
  • Ensure compliance of safeguarding standards in all business areas by providing guidelines, tools and required support to raise competencies of the relevant functions.
  • Actively promote a safeguarding culture through monitoring and evaluation of overall safeguarding practices in country by providing a country safeguarding action plan, safeguarding audits, risk reporting and other country safeguarding monitoring systems as outlined by global safeguarding.
  • Participate and contribute to the (regional) safeguarding network in a meaningful way by active participation in regional safeguarding platforms and opportunities.
  • Act as the first contact person on safeguarding concerns. Timely advice and support and management on safeguarding concerns and allegations in accordance with the global guidance and policy.
  • Lead by example to ensure and build a culture of proactive safeguarding structure and procedures.
