Merchandiser Apparel Specialist

 

Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Merchandiser with a strong understanding of the fabric

market in Karachi and across Pakistan. The ideal candidate will possess excellent sourcing skills and be

able to navigate the local fabric markets effectively. Additionally, familiarity with apparel accessories such

as buttons, embroidery, and other embellishments is essential to excel in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough market research to identify and evaluate fabric suppliers/vendors in Karachi

and other key cities in Pakistan.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with fabric suppliers/vendors, negotiating terms and

agreements to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.

• Regularly visit local fabric markets to source new fabrics and stay updated on market trends,

innovations, and pricing dynamics.

• Collaborate closely with design and production teams to select appropriate fabrics and

accessories for each garment, considering design aesthetics, functionality, and cost.

• Coordinate sample development and production processes, ensuring timely delivery and

adherence to quality standards.

• Monitor inventory levels of fabrics and accessories, optimizing stock levels to meet production

schedules and minimize costs.

• Stay updated on regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to fabric sourcing

and procurement.

• Provide regular reports and updates on fabric sourcing activities, market trends, and supplier

performance to relevant stakeholders.

• Any other task assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirement

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Merchandising, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Merchandiser or Buyer in the textile/apparel industry, with a focus on

fabric sourcing and procurement.

• In-depth knowledge of the fabric market in Karachi and Pakistan, including strong connections

and relationships with suppliers/vendors.

• Ability to visit local fabric markets and effectively negotiate with suppliers/vendors.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain

relationships with suppliers/vendors.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced

environment.
