Medical Billing Payment Posting Specialist

Responsibilities:

 

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments (EOBs/ERAs) within defined timelines
  • Reconcile payments with bank deposits, ERA files, and system reports to ensure accuracy
  • Apply appropriate adjustments, write-offs, denials, and patient balances as per payer guidelines
  • Review EOBs/ERAs to identify underpayments, overpayments, and discrepancies, and take necessary action
  • Perform follow-ups on unpaid, underpaid, and denied claims with insurance companies
  • Work on AR aging reports to prioritize and resolve outstanding claims efficiently
  • Analyze denials, take corrective actions, and submit appeals when required
  • Process refunds and manage credit balances according to company policies
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all transactions and follow-up activities in the system
  • Collaborate with billing, coding, and other teams to resolve issues and improve cash flow
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and meet daily productivity and quality targets

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • 1–3 years of experience in US healthcare RCM, including payment posting and AR follow-up
  • Strong understanding of EOBs, ERAs, CPT/ICD codes, and payer reimbursement methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with AR follow-up, denial management, and appeals process
  • Experience working with insurance portals and clearinghouses
  • Knowledge of contractual adjustments, denial codes, and aging reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Good communication skills for dealing with insurance representatives
  • Experience with Office Ally software for payment posting
