Description:
The Lead Counsel (Pakistan) will be Motive’s primary in-country legal owner, responsible for end-to-end legal support across Pakistan & India operations.
They will advise on primarily on employment matters, commercial contracts, litigation strategy and management, , compliance programs (including whistleblowing and investigations), data protection, regulatory engagement, and outside counsel oversight. This is a hands-on role that requires comfort operating as the sole local attorney while collaborating closely with global Legal, Compliance, HR, Procurement, Finance, and business leaders.
What You'll Do
- Advise internal clients on legal matters relevant to Motive’s international operations in Pakistan and India, majority of it being in employment, commercial contracts, corporate governance, litigation, compliance, privacy and other cross-border activities.
- Lead employee relations matters, including investigations, reporting, actions, templates, policies, training materials, compliance and litigation. Lead continuous improvements of forms, policies and processes.
- Lead investigations into allegations of fraud, theft, or policy breaches; coordinate with HR/Audit; prepare evidence files and direct criminal/civil filings as required.
- Assist with Pakistan and India subsidiary governance, including maintaining corporate records, ensuring compliance, and streamlining processes.
- Negotiate, draft, and review a broad range of commercial contracts, including contractor agreements, master service agreements and licensing agreements.
- Assist in managing commercial litigation, disputes and settlement.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes in Pakistan and India, ensuring Motive’s policies and practices remain current and compliant.
- Assist with the successful completion of major programs and projects, as applicable.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the Company.
- Drive continuous improvements, scalability and operational excellence in legal processes and execution.
What We're Looking For
- 8 to 10+ years of practice at a leading law firm and in-house experience managing complex international legal environments with expertise in two or more legal areas (e.g., employment, corporate governance, commercial contracts or litigation).
- A law degree (JD/LLB or equivalent) in Pakistan is required.
- Experience in India is a plus.
- Highly motivated, reliable, flexible, deadline-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks independently.
- An owner’s mentality with the ability to execute in a fast-paced environment, juggle conflicting priorities to meet deadlines, adapt quickly to change and think creatively of solutions.
