Description:
The IT Instructor will play a vital role in empowering individuals with physical disabilities and marginalised youth in Gilgit Baltistan by delivering accessible, practical, and high-quality computer literacy and digital skills training. This role is central to GBGM’s mission of fostering inclusion, independence, and economic opportunity through education and skills development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver foundational and intermediate IT training, including MS Office, internet use, email, typing, and basic troubleshooting.
- Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of learners with different abilities and educational backgrounds.
- Offer individual support and mentorship to students, ensuring inclusive and respectful learning.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to the GBGM team and participants.
- Organise workshops or short courses on relevant digital skills such as online freelancing, graphic design, or cybersecurity basics.
- Maintain computer lab equipment and ensure a safe, accessible, and welcoming environment.
- Collaborate with the GBGM leadership to continuously improve and expand the IT training programme.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in teaching IT or conducting digital literacy training.
- Strong communication skills in Urdu and English; knowledge of local languages (e.g. Shina, Burushaski) is a plus.
- Patience, empathy, and sensitivity towards individuals with physical disabilities.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies is desirable.
