Description:
As an Environment Artist, your core responsibility is to craft high-quality environments while applying optimization techniques to maintain performance across platforms. You’ll work closely with level designers, technical artists, and engineers to deliver visually rich but performant worlds.
Responsibilities:
Model and texture environment assets with a focus on efficiency and low polygon counts.
Optimize assets and scenes for real-time engines (Unity, Unreal) without compromising visual quality.
Create modular assets for reusable environments to reduce memory usage.
Implement Level of Detail (LOD) systems and efficient culling techniques.
Collaborate with technical artists and programmers to solve performance bottlenecks.
Maintain consistent art style while applying texture atlases, light baking, and other optimization methods.
Provide iterative improvements based on profiling data and performance metrics.
Requirements:
Strong portfolio demonstrating optimized, production-ready environments.
Expertise in 3D modeling (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and texturing (Substance Painter, Designer).
Deep understanding of real-time engine constraints and optimization techniques.
Familiarity with LODs, light baking, occlusion culling, and efficient UV layouts.
Knowledge of performance profiling tools and memory budgeting.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
