Engine Room Operator

Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, a prestigious name in Pakistan’s steel and industrial manufacturing sector, is actively seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Engine Room Operator (ERO) to support the operational excellence of our gas-based power generation facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with high-performance machinery in a mission-critical role that ensures uninterrupted power delivery for one of Pakistan's leading industrial complexes.

The Engine Room Operator will be accountable for the continuous, efficient, and safe functioning of the engine room’s mechanical and auxiliary systems. The ideal candidate should have practical expertise in monitoring, operating, and maintaining gas turbine auxiliaries and mechanical components, with a strong commitment to following operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor essential engine room equipment including pumps, compressors, lubrication and cooling systems, and fuel management units

• Conduct routine inspections to ensure mechanical integrity and operational efficiency

• Monitor fluid levels such as oil, coolant, and fuel, ensuring all parameters stay within defined limits

• Identify abnormal operating conditions such as vibration, excessive noise, leaks, or temperature anomalies, and initiate corrective actions

• Assist in plant startup and shutdown procedures under the supervision of the Control Room Operator (CRO)

• Maintain accurate logs and operational records for shift reporting and compliance

• Ensure engine room cleanliness, compliance with safety regulations, and adherence to environmental protocols

• Perform minor preventive maintenance, while escalating complex technical issues to the designated maintenance team

• Participate in emergency drills, safety briefings, and permit-to-work procedures as part of the HSE framework

Qualifications & Experience:

🎓 Education:

• 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Technology from a recognized technical institution

🧰 Experience:

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on engine room experience in a gas power plant or marine engine room

• Familiarity with gas turbine mechanical systems and supporting auxiliary components

Key Skills:

• Solid knowledge of rotating mechanical equipment operations

• Ability to recognize early indicators of mechanical failure

• Understanding of standard operating procedures and emergency protocols

• Strong team collaboration, shift reporting, and verbal communication abilities
