Description:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a skilled and motivated Database Engineer II to join their global team supporting high-volume, mission-critical database systems. This role focuses on ensuring reliability, scalability, and high performance for the databases powering flagship platforms such as CIQ Pro, CIQ Classic, and Risk Solutions. As a Database Engineer II, you'll be responsible for supporting, managing, and enhancing the performance and availability of multi-terabyte systems essential to financial data services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, support, and manage large-scale, high-availability database systems.

  • Coordinate key database releases across QA, Pre-Production, Production, and DR environments as part of the SDLC.

  • Implement upgrades and patches, automate routine tasks, and develop monitoring tools.

  • Troubleshoot and solve routine database problems independently or with minimal supervision.

  • Maintain run books, knowledge bases, and participate in 24/7 rotating on-call Tier 3 support.

  • Perform non-production database refreshes and backups.

  • Collaborate with IT server and infrastructure teams to meet SLAs.

  • Support databases in virtualized environments.

  • Recommend and implement process and system improvements.

Technologies Involved:

  • Primary: Microsoft SQL Server

  • Secondary (Optional): Oracle, MySQL, SOLR, Elastic Search, Attunity, NIFI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.

  • Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server; additional experience with NoSQL, SOLR, Elastic Search, Oracle, or PostgreSQL is a plus.

  • Familiarity with technologies like Transactional Replication, Log Shipping, Mirroring, AlwaysOn, Windows Clustering.

  • PowerShell or scripting experience is a plus.

  • ITIL V3 Foundation Certification, and certifications in Azure, AWS, or GCP are advantageous.

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
