Description:
The City Manager is responsible for launching, operating, and scaling the BNPL handset installment business within the assigned city. This role leads the field sales team, manages retail channels, coordinates with OEM/carrier partners, ensures operational compliance, and achieves monthly business targets with disciplined execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Deployment & Channel Coverage
- Deploy BNPL product into designated handset stores and channels.
- Ensure eligible models, pricing, bundles, and promotional materials are consistently available.
- Build and maintain relationships with handset retailers, OEM promoters, and telecom partners.
2. Sales & Team Management
- Recruit, train, and manage Installment Sales Officers (and AMs/promoters if applicable).
- Set daily/weekly targets and run structured performance reviews.
- Provide coaching on pitching, product knowledge, funnel conversion, and compliance.
3. Funnel & Operations Management
- Oversee full sales funnel: pre-check, approval, activation, device delivery, and contract execution.
- Monitor funnel performance (pre-check→approval→activation) and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with credit, underwriting, device management, and customer service to resolve field issues.
4. Compliance, Risk & Quality Control
- Enforce SOPs for verification, documentation, device handling, and returns.
- Identify and report fraud risks, non-compliant behavior, or high-risk stores.
- Manage device return and second-hand recovery flows in coordination with central ops.
5. Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Deliver structured performance reports (volume, approval rates, conversion, coverage).
- Provide feedback on handset lineup, pricing shifts, competitor programs, and subsidy efficiency.
- Input into product and policy improvements based on real market data.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Marketing, or related field (MBA a plus).
- 4-8 years experience in handset sales, telecom distribution, consumer lending, BNPL, FMCG field ops, or similar.
- Proven track record managing field sales teams and retail channels.
- Knowledge of the handset retail ecosystem (OEM promoters, retailers, carriers) preferred.
- Strong operational discipline, problem-solving, and reporting capability.
- Strong communication skills in English and local language(s).
- High mobility within the city; occasional inter-city travel as required.
