If you're excited to create a climate impact in a rapidly-growing company, Ahya is seeking a talented Carbon Markets Analyst/Associate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced analyst with knowledge and understanding of carbon markets. In this role, you will support our Technology and Product team, working on Tawazun by Ahya as well as work with our partners from across various industries.
Key responsibilities
- Gather carbon market data and policy information to identify industry trends and develop strategic insights;
- Research and analyse a range of policy and market initiatives to strengthen the credible use of carbon credits to support the delivery of climate finance;
- Conduct financial and environmental modelling for voluntary emission reduction projects;
- Advise companies on strategies for taking climate action using the Ahya platform and ecosystem;
- Support the implementation and onboarding of new projects including due diligence, carbon credit forecasting and eligibility control;
- Develop and implement an organisational strategy for engaging with relevant market intermediaries, including brokers and exchanges;
- Provide technical input on the voluntary carbon markets for development of Ahya’s digital marketplace;
- Effectively communicate with senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Economics or similar discipline;
- Minimum 2 years experience in carbon markets;
- Knowledge of the voluntary carbon market, offtake strategies, carbon finance, climate solution technologies, participants, and market trends;
- Good understanding of carbon credit certifying standards (such as Verra, Gold Standard) and carbon registries;
- Familiarity with legal requirements pertaining to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement;
- Experience in developing strategies for carbon removal, carbon credits and voluntary carbon markets;
- Experience in nature-based and technological carbon removal and reduction solutions;
- Experience in assessing carbon offset project quality, conservation financing and impact analysis;
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills which include climate/financial modelling and advanced Excel;
- Good presentation and communication skills;
- Time management and organisational skills, including prioritising and effectively managing multiple tasks and assignments with competing demands.
