This is a hands-on multimedia journalism position focusing on Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the wider region. Candidates must be skilled in researching, pitching, interviewing, and field reporting while being comfortable appearing on-camera. We prioritize journalists who understand platform-specific content creation for television and digital outlets like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Production: Research, pitch, and produce original news stories, interviews, and explainers.
- Monitoring: Track political, security, and diplomatic developments in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
- Field Reporting: Conduct interviews with officials, analysts, and local community members; deliver live reports and on-camera stand-ups.
- Digital Integration: Produce digital-first video content and manage scripts, filming, and post-production.
- Networking: Maintain a robust network of sources across government, academia, and civil society.
- Coordination: Work closely with MKS camera crews, editors, and international client newsrooms.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Professional journalism experience in television or digital video.
- Languages: Native or professional proficiency in Pashto or Persian/Dari. Proficiency in English is required; Urdu is considered an advantage.
- Regional Expertise: Deep understanding of the geopolitical dynamics in South Asia.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Mobile Journalism (MoJo), camera equipment, and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications preferred, though extensive professional experience will be considered.
