Description:
PowerTeck Switchgear Services is looking for a skilled and experienced AutoCAD Designer / CAD Designer to join our manufacturing team.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in 2D drafting and 3D modeling, particularly in the design and detailing of Electrical Distribution Boards (DBs), LT Panels, Control Panels, MCC/PCC Panels, Enclosures, and related sheet-metal structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D fabrication and manufacturing drawings for electrical panels and DBs.
- Develop accurate 3D models and assemblies of panels, enclosures and related structures.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Prepare sheet-metal part and assembly drawings.
- Prepare cutting, bending and fabrication drawings.
- Develop mounting plate, door, gland plate, partition and enclosure details.
- Prepare drawings suitable for CNC laser cutting and CNC bending.
- Incorporate electrical component layouts into mechanical panel designs.
- Check dimensions, clearances, tolerances, component mounting and assembly requirements.
- Review designs for manufacturability before releasing them to production.
- Coordinate with Electrical Design, Production, Fabrication, Busbar, Powder Coating and QC departments.
- Modify drawings according to engineering and production requirements.
- Maintain proper drawing numbering, revisions and CAD documentation.
- Take physical measurements of existing panels/enclosures and convert them into accurate CAD drawings when required.
- Support continuous improvement of panel designs with respect to manufacturing, cost, functionality and appearance.
Required Skills
Essential:
- Excellent command of AutoCAD 2D
- Strong hands-on 3D CAD modelling skills
- Good knowledge of sheet-metal design
- Ability to prepare production/fabrication drawings
- Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances and fabrication requirements
- Understanding of electrical panel/enclosure construction
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and layouts
- Knowledge of CNC laser cutting and sheet-metal bending requirements
- Good understanding of mechanical fabrication and assembly
Preferred:
Experience with any of the following:
- SolidWorks
- Autodesk Inventor
- Solid Edge
- Other professional 3D CAD software
Industry Experience Preferred
Candidates with experience in any of the following industries will be preferred:
- Electrical Switchgear Manufacturing
- Electrical Panel Manufacturing
- Distribution Boards / DBs
- MCC / PCC Panels
- Control Panels
- Sheet-Metal Fabrication
- Electrical Enclosures
- Industrial Equipment Manufacturing
Qualification
DAE / Diploma, B.Tech, or a relevant technical field.
Candidates with strong practical CAD experience may also be considered based on competency.
Experience
2–5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Fresh candidates with exceptional 2D/3D CAD skills and a strong portfolio may also be considered.
