Asst. Operations Manager

 

Description:

• Experienced individual within the Paper, Pulp, Packaging industry (minimum 4 years)

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, quality and maintenance
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, self-starter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and develops team members to work together to attain department objectives and to meet established performance and production goals.
  • Reviews daily production schedule for the plant to plan work and personnel assignments for the shift and clearly delegates both routine and important tasks and decisions to others in the department.
  • Reports promptly to department managers when delays occur, estimates of the time of delay and when operations will be resumed.
  • Anticipates and determines causes of delays in shift operations and takes appropriate counter measures to meet schedule completion.
  • Maintains and champions all safety, quality, and housekeeping policies in the department per ISO 9001, 14001 and BRCGs regulations
  • Coordinates with other departments such as moulding, mechanical and maintenance, procurement and administration for required work on shift.
  • Reviews output at the end of each shift and completes necessary Lab and Performance reporting.
  • Completes hand off to oncoming shift supervisor.
  • Conducts oneself ethically and in compliance with all company employee relations policies in all dealings with employees while upholding company values.
  • Maintains approachability with all employees at all levels. Builds rapport and fosters strong working relationships.
  • Motivates and empowers others to study operations where cost standards are not being met, communicates the bigger picture, and encourages employees to determine causes and to apply corrective measures.

Qualifications

  • You must have a well qualified background in the paper and pulp industry.
  • Minimum 4 years previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must have strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail, problem solving and follow-up with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
