Description:
The Assistant IT Manager supports the planning, execution, and day-to-day management of the organization’s IT infrastructure and operations. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of systems and networks while assisting in IT projects, team supervision, and technology initiatives aligned with business continuity and growth. The position acts as a key operational and technical bridge between IT strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Network Operations
- Support the management and optimization of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, and enterprise network infrastructure.
- Ensure high system availability, connectivity, and performance across offices, branches, and warehouses.
- Assist in configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers, switches, access points, and network security devices.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Implement and enforce IT security policies, access controls, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Monitor firewall security, threat alerts, backups, and data protection mechanisms.
- Support disaster recovery planning, backup validation, and system resilience testing.
IT Operations & Technical Support
- Oversee and support tier-1 and tier-2 IT support activities to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot escalated system, network, and hardware issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, SOPs, asset registers, and system records.
Systems, Projects & Digital Enablement
- Assist in IT projects including system upgrades, ERP support, infrastructure expansion, and new site rollouts.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align IT solutions with operational requirements.
- Support evaluation and deployment of new tools, technologies, and process improvements.
Team Coordination & Vendor Support
- Support supervision, task allocation, and skill development of IT support staff.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and consultants for maintenance and technical support.
- Ensure service quality, timely issue resolution, and cost-effective IT solutions.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN)
- Hands-on experience with firewalls and network devices (Cisco, Mikrotik, Fortinet or similar)
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and IT governance
- Working knowledge of Windows/Linux environments and basic server administration
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication, coordination, and documentation skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of relevant IT/networking experience in a corporate or multi-site environment
- Prior experience in a senior IT support, team lead, or deputy role preferred
- Exposure to ERP systems, virtualization, or cloud platforms is an advantage
