Description:
The Assistant Finance Manager will support the UK Finance team in preparing financial statements, handling tax-related tasks, managing reporting schedules, and maintaining compliance with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and monthly reporting.
- Support senior finance management in ensuring UK GAAP compliance.
- Assist with VAT returns, corporate tax filings, and HMRC submissions.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and reconcile financial data.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and insights.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Coordinate with UK-based clients and teams for reporting and queries.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure policy compliance.
Requirements
- Mandatory: Experience working with a UK accountancy firm.
- Strong understanding of UK taxation, HMRC regulations, and accounting standards.
- Solid experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting systems.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in dealing with UK clients.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA are preferred (not mandatory).
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
