Description:
The Account Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations of multiple clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely processing of invoices and reconciliations. The role plays a key part in supporting the company’s and client’s financial health while ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain all financial transactions in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, CaseWare, SAP, Tally, or similar).
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and working papers using CaseWare Working Papers, including importing trial balances, preparing lead schedules, and ensuring audit-ready documentation.
- Support U.S. and Canadian accounting processes, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and ASPE/IFRS standards.
- Assist in preparing U.S. and Canadian tax workpapers, such as income summaries, expense reconciliations, and trial balance adjustments for corporate and individual filings (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, T1, T2, etc.).
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany accounts.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, including variance analysis and journal entries.
- Prepare and process invoices, payroll data, and employee expense reimbursements.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial and audit records, ensuring compliance with firm and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with team members to improve accuracy, efficiency, and workflow consistency across multiple client engagements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master degree in Accounting & Finance or Professional certification (ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent)
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or tax, preferably involving U.S. and Canadian clients.
- Working knowledge of CaseWare Working Papers for financial statement preparation and audit documentation.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, Canadian ASPE/IFRS, and basic tax compliance for both jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, and other accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and organizational abilities to handle multiple client files efficiently.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure during tax and audit seasons.
